I just asked the local CO, when he told us that we have a sub coming for the local visit, he was quite open about it.
Interesting. Nobody else has heard anything about it. Thanks.

all the circuit overseers in the uk have been called into bethel for a two-month-long seminar.
no doubt the us has already had theirs: has anything started leaking out yet?

Hi core,
I had to look up who Lainey was, just to get the joke. <sigh>
How come Caspain was deleted but not Lainey? Why was Caspian deleted, anyway?

Ken
i didn't fully realize it until i was in my 20's, but i have always been an atheist.
some of my earliest childhood memories are of my questioning theological teachings... even challenging my mom to better explain or prove this "god" thing.. after being severely scolded several times for asking such questions i learned no to ask them.
i bottled them up to the point that i didn't even think about them much myself.. in my early 20's the questions kept "leaking" out into my mind... forcing me to think about them.
Hi Elsewhere,
Having left fairly recently, I still feel disillusioned after having been lied to for so many years, and am wary of being taken in a second time...
So I'm not yet sure whether or not I still believe in a God, god, or whatever. (Frankly, over the past few months of reflection, I'm now not sure whether I ever believed in God, or if I just put these questions out of my mind.) At least I feel it must be healthy to re-evaluate everything I once believed...

Ken

Hi Digger, and welcome to JWD. Appreciated your post.
All of the Travelling Overseers are attending a special version of the MTS. adapted for Circuit and District work.
The US folks here don't seem to have heard of this--is it a UK-only initiative? Or are the UK guys the 'guinea pigs' to beta test the course before rolling it out in the US?
It is 90% of the course work from the MTS handbook.
I wondered if there might be any 'new light' regarding dealing with apostates?
Just Crooklyns way of brainwashing any freethinking CO's
Are there any of these left?
Without revealing anything that might identify yourself, can you tell us how you know this?

Ken

Hi minimus,
I remembered how both Caspian and Jemimah would post about CO or Society seminars in the past
I don't remember Jemimah: maybe that was before I joined, or maybe I just missed that particular excitement!
and I noted that you were from the same area
And one or two others. Except, of course, that Caspian was in England and I'm in Scotland...
and that you, too, suddenly asked for help to get out as a former elder and wanted suggestions as to how to get out in the best manner.........
That's why I joined up--and, by the way, it's now done.
And I know of no CO seminars other than the ones that took place a few years ago...
I'm told that all UK circuit overseers have been called into Bethel for a two-month seminar. No doubt others here in the UK can confirm.
Best wishes,
Ken

Hi minimus,
For what it's worth, I can assure you I'm not Caspian!
(I don't know if it adds any weight to my denial, but around the time Caspian left, I sent a message to Simon--not that he bothered replying!--asking if there was any way to retrieve old IMs that I'd sent Caspian, as I was worried I'd revealed too much personal information to Caspian, and I wanted to review what I'd actually told him...)
No doubt my IP hash is totally different from Caspian's (not that I've checked), though as I think was previously demonstrated, that may not necessarily be conclusive.
So, minimus, I'm curious: what was it about my post that made you think it was from Caspian?? (Incidentally, I've no doubt your suspicions are correct that he's either lurking or re-registered and posting using another alias.)
And have you heard anything about the CO seminar?
Best wishes,
Ken
(Incidentally, the reason scotsman was able to reply on my behalf, is that just a couple of days ago we discovered we're distantly related.)

i have always wanted to do that at a kingdom hall.
over the past few years i celebrated pesach (passover) with some jewish friends and it was so cool to be able to munch the food.
besides the jewish tradition was much more fun and was more like a party.
drinking the entire bottle would be easy, but a whole box of crackers is more of a challenge,
Hmm, good point. I forgot about the rest of the bottle of wine. View it as a challenge?
Rather than buying a box of crackers, whenever I gave the talk my wife would make a couple of pieces of 'bread.' So what was on the plate was all we had. (Who says Scotsmen - nothing personal - aren't mean!)

Hey, Scotsman, you're really wicked. I haven't laughed so long for ages!
I recently had the thought that this would be an ideal way of disrupting the memorial. If 3 or 4 of us sat in a row we could polish a glass of wine iff and finish the biscuits. It would mean they'd have to restock half way through and it would disturb that wierd holy holy atmosphere that occurs.
It would be even better if they didn't have any more bread or wine! Would they then abandon the rest of the 'celebration/?
We ate the matzos and polished off the bottle after the memorial every year my dad took it. Wasn't very exciting.
The ones we used tasted pretty good with plenty of butter, cheese and red wine!

i'm a recent departee and am now re-evaluating all my previous beliefs and there's none more fundamental.
however, i'm not sure where to start: i'm sure i don't need to say there's an enormous amount of nonsense out there.
frankly, in spite of their other stupid teachings, i am considering reviewing again the articles in wt library as i think they do try to sincerely prove the existence of god.
Hi Stacy,
Don't believe in a god and if I did I wouldn't like him much.
I see what you mean, though I guess it would depend on who or what was your concept of a god, or divinity...

Ken
